Training standards/behaviour

Our swimmers are expected to exhibit the highest standards of behaviour at carnivals and club nights. We want the swimmers to enjoy themselves, to train hard and be courteous to coaches and fellow swimmers. It is expected that when swimmers will wear the NR swim cap when they are competing for the club.

Swimmers in the senior squad who wish to compete at the  Age Nationals should discuss with their coach which carnivals they should target during the season.  Swimmers in other squads wishing to compete should also seek their coach’s advice.  We recommended that swimmers enter no more then 2 carnivals a month.

We encourage less experienced swimmers to participate in club nights and the various levels of school swimming to gain experience.  Carnivals suitable for junior and Intermediate swimmers are listed on the QLD Swimming Happening Calendar or on the NR website.

Primary school swimming competitions are recommended for all students.  Secondary school swimming is not recommended for those going to Age Nationals/Open Nationals.

If a swimmer enters the QLD Championships or The Australian Age Nationals they must make themselves available for relays. The Brisbane Metro Relay meet is also one which we recommend that all swimmers attend as the club accrues points for club championship.

Club Nights

Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many club nights as possible and participate at the highest standard. Senior Squad are expected to train on the Friday afternoon prior to club night. Club Captains are responsible for organising swimmers to help in the set-up and clean-up of the night. It is a night where club members and families can come and help with the night, socialise and have a bit of fun.
